Mercedes-Benz

The highest-class vehicle produced in Spain is manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in Vitoria.

The plant boasts a production capacity of over 150,000 vehicles a year. Its presence in Álava directly sustains around 5,000 jobs. It manufactures four models, two of which are electric. The Vito and eVito commercial vehicles take their name from the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The V-Class and electric EQV are high-end passenger cars. 

Aernnova

Somewhere in the world, a plane built using this company’s products takes off or lands every two seconds.

Aernnova is a multinational Basque company with its headquarters in Álava. Leader in the design and production of aerostructures, its important role as a supplier makes it the main Tier 1 in Spain and the tenth in the world. 

Michelin

Álava is home to Michelin’s largest industrial centre in Europe, spanning 430,000 m2.

Present in Vitoria-Gasteiz since 1966 and where some 3,500 people produce 195,000 tonnes of high-tech tyres, its large logistics centre in Araia, in the Álava Plains, covers 80,000 m2, can store 1.8 million tyres, and distributes 15 million tyres a year.  

Talgo

At its factory in Rivabellosa, Álava, this firm builds high-tech train carriages for countries across several continents.

Manufactured at its plant in Álava is the lightest high-speed train in the world, the Talgo Avril, able to transport more than 600 passengers at 330 km/h. The production centre is also developing the renewable hydrogen model Talgo Vittal One, which will be the first dual hydrogen and electricity train in the world. 

Tubacex

The world’s leading seamless stainless steel tube manufacturer has its headquarters in Llodio.

Tubacex is a multinational group, founded in 1963, leader in the supply of tubular solutions (tubes and fittings) in stainless steel and high alloys. This multinational has production centres in Spain, Austria, the United States, Italy, India and Thailand (as well as in Norway, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Canada and Singapur, through the NTS group); centres providing a global service; and a commercial presence in 38 countries. 

Tubos Reunidos

This firm’s products are manufactured in more than 700 types of steel, and present in all 5 continents.

Tubos Reunidos S.A. was founded in 1968 in Amurrio. This large company is a global supplier of seamless carbon, alloy, high alloy and stainless steel tubes via the companies that make up the Tubos Reunidos Group. It is present in more than 100 countries across five continents, and on the largest and fastest-growing markets. 

Vidrala

Producer of more than 8,000 million glass containers per year.

Since its foundation in Llodio in 1965, this company has undergone continuous growth, incorporating into its facilities the latest technological developments in manufacturing and finished product control, making it a benchmark in the sector. 

 

PepsiCo

The bottling plant in Álava has the fastest can production line in the continent (120,000 cans per hour).

PepsiCo’s largest bottling plant in Europe is located Etxabarri Ibiña, in Álava, and much of its global digital hub and specialised service centre for Southwest Europe is found at Álava Technology Park. 

Rioja Alavesa

The wines from Rioja Alavesa are found in the best restaurants worldwide.

Home to 13,500 hectares of vineyards and just over 250 bottling wineries, the Rioja Alavesa regions wine production is one of the most dynamic in Europe. Due to its strategic location, this world leader in express shipping has chosen Vitoria International Airport as its air hub for Spain, Portugal and Southern France.

Present here since 1995, its recent investments and the expansion of its terminal allow it to process 18,000 pieces per hour automatically, making its airport operations centre the best and most modern in southern Europe.
