Alava attracts new investments linked to logistics activities.

Mercadona doubles down on its commitment to the strategic enclave of Jundiz by expanding its facilities with another 18,000 m2 plot. In 2020, this food giant completed its important intelligent logistics centre in Jundiz, the largest of its kind in the north of the peninsula, covering a 150,000 m2 plot, which meant an investment of more than €187 million and 773 job contracts. The firm’s intensive activity and the growth prospects have made it necessary to extend its facilities barely two years later.

Eroski has also set up its new fresh produce distribution platform in Jundiz, made up of 17,600 m2 of fully refrigerated premises, employing 150 workers and has entailing an investment of €20 million.

Very close to Jundiz, in the Los Llanos 2 Business Park in Iruña de Oca, Lidl has constructed its logistics centre on a plot of over 111,000 square meters, with an investment of roughly €75 million and the employment of 200 people.

These food leaders in Álava supply more than half a thousand supermarkets across the north of Spain.

Meanwhile, the firm Panattoni has chosen Jundiz for its competitive advantages in order to develop an ideal logistics platform for last-mile delivery (33,000 m2), with state-of-the-art warehouses holding sustainable construction certifications and fit for electric delivery fleets for use in low-emission zones. This project has been undertaken by Panattoni Development Spain, a subsidiary of one of the largest developers of industrial and logistics spaces in the United States.
